Hey everyone! Some quick news about the trip!
Overnight camping in Antarctica has been confirmed for November 23rd, 2010.
Two spots in the cheap rooms have opened up, so if you have friends who want to come, have them contact me or cheryl ASAP! The total amount for the trip is due July 15 which is only a couple days away.

And here is some medical information from Quark:
No inoculations are required to enter the countries visited on this expedition. I would suggest that your clients are up to date on their boosters and are protected against hepatitis A & B. However, they should check with their GP or a travel doctor for any concerns they have in regards to medical information as their doctor will have better knowledge of this and know the clients medical history.

Just found out where we’re staying pre-boat on Nov 19 - It’s the Hotel Albatros. Looks nice, but more importantly, has internets, a bar, and a hot tub. Have you sent Cheryl your passport yet? Please do, asap. We need them to figure out flights. Also you should have gotten some links from us to a couple applications you need to fill out. Need those so we can get you parkas to stay warm and dry. If you haven’t gotten links yet, let me know. Thanks!

If you want travel insurance (which is a really good idea), you can use the company that Cheryl goes through, Travel Guard.
You’ll need this info:

Travel Agent’s Name: Cheryl Ericksen.
When you call them at 1-800-454-7107, anyone will be able to receive an actual insurance quote based on the price of their trip (air, Quark’s quoted trip costs, medical and evacuation coverage needed, etc).
Insurance must be purchased prior to final payment of trip purchases (air and trip).
Quark Expeditions highly recommends that each of our passengers purchase additional medical and evacuation coverage. Just in case.

Scan your passport and send it to cheryl@smoretravel.com .. if you need to fax it, call her first at 425-466-1211 so she can turn on her fax machine. The number to send the fax to is 425-572-5800.
“For now, I would like to receive a scanned or (legible) faxed copy of each persons passport in our group ASAP. Everyone who needs to renew their passport should do so right away. At the minimum, passports must be valid for 6 months after the departure date of traveling (11/18/2010), otherwise they will need to renew it ASAP. I’d like to receive a copy of their passport even if it is expired. Quark wants copy as well. They will make each reservation once they receive this copy from me. This will prevent us from spelling names incorrectly. this cause much hassles for everyone and is costly too.”
We’re working on getting a group rate for airfare- it’ll be a $50 deposit to hold your spot on the plane if you wanna fly together. So if you’re flying with us, I need to know that right now.
